Kid's Book Reviews - December 2001

I read a really cool book
called The Incredible Journey. It is about these two dogs and a
cat, whose owners are on a year-long vacation. They are staying with a
friend of their owners. They run away and try to get home. This is a good book because it
is really exciting. It is also very descriptive. I would definitely
recommend it to kids about my age. Reviewed

Paulsen Hatchet is about a boy named Brian Robeson
who is visiting his father for the first time since his mom and dad's
divorce. Before he leaves, all his mom gives him is a hatchet. While he
is flying to his dad's house, the pilot has a heart-attack. The plane
runs out of fuel and crashes down onto an island, where he has to find
food, water, and has to learn by himself how to make weapons to catch
things like rabbits, fish, and birds. I really like this book and I hope
you read it too. Reviewed

Campbell Ernst It's about Goldilocks when she's older. She
goes back to the bears' house and fixes it up because she has nightmare
about the bears. It's funny when she puts tons of locks on the bears'
house so no snoops like goldilocks will come into their house. She also
dumps out the bears' porridge because she doesn't like it and she
doesn't think it's good for the bears. Also, after fifty years, the baby
bear still has a "wee" voice. This is a really funny book. I like the
pictures because they're funny too. Reviewed
