Each month our young readers pick favorite books that they read in the past month and tell why they recommend it to other kids their age. This month's reviews include:

The Outsiders

 Nightmare Mountain

The Adventures of Captain Underpants

Go Dogs Go

The Outsiders

by S.E. Hinton

The Outsiders was about a boy named Ponyboy Curtis. He and his friends are the Greasers. Then there are the Soc, who are the rich kids and snobs. The Greasers and the Socs are always getting in fights or "rumbles". When Ponyboy's best friend, Johnny, kills one of the Socs, they run away to escape the police.

I loved this book! It made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me think. It is one of the best books I've ever read.

Nightmare Mountain

by Peg Kehret

Nightmare Mountain is about a girl named Molly who lives in L.A. and goes to visit her cousin near the mountain. The night she gets there her aunt gets poisoned. After that, her cousin practically hated her. Her uncle's llama had also gone missing. A little bit later, Molly found out who the thief was and he kidnaps Molly and her cousin. He makes them help him steal more of Molly's uncle's llamas.

One thing that made this a good book was how when one problem is solved, something else pops up and they have to solve that problem.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants

by Dav Pilkey

Captain Underpants tries to save the world, but George and Harold try to stop him. My favorite part of the book was when a little boy said to his mommy, "Look, that person is in his underpants." At the end of the book, Captain Underpants turns back into George and Harold's school principal.

Go Dogs Go

by Philip D. Eastman

Some dogs are going to a tree party, but the people reading the book don't know what is on the tree. In other parts, dogs work and play and they go fast in their cars. The dog party is my favorite because it has all these things like a cannon, a swing, and a cake. I also like it when the dogs go fast in their cars.
