A Door in the Woods

by James Dashner

Jimmy Fincher is a young boy from a small Southern town. He lived a normal and happy life, until one day while climbing a tree, he witnesses a man killing a woman, after which she disappears instantly into a hole to another world. However, the man sees him and he is thrust into an adventure where he will risk his own life to save the world from mysterious being known only as the Stompers. Although it seems to rush through the book at times, not giving very specific details, it is a very exciting and entertaining story that will engage the reader for hours.

Dragon Slippers

by Jessica Day George

Creel's life was happy. At least it used to be. She used to have parents but they both died from sickness. Now it is her aunt's duty to take care of her and her near poverty family. Unfortunately, her aunt does not always have the best "Get Rich Quick" ideas. True, when her aunt suggested that Creel be sacrificed to the local dragon it was in hopes that a great knight would come, save her, marry her, and benefit the family greatly. Yet Creel bravely talks her way out of the dragons clutches. And again it is Creel who goes on her way to the King's Seat to seek her fortune with only spare embroidery thread and a pair of strange slippers. But even Creel would never have guessed the outcome of holding possession of these strange shoes. What's so strange about the shoes? Read Dragon Slippers to find out.

Hatchet

by Gary Paulsen

This book is about a boy who goes to visit his dad in Canada. On the way there the plane crashes and all he has is a hatchet that his mom gave him before he left. I had  a lot of favorite parts from the book such as when the fool bird (that's what the boy calls them because they're stupid) blows up right in his face. That part made me laugh so much. Also, when he needed food so he went to the lake and used a bow and arrow. If you like things that are intense, you'll like this book.

Duck, Duck, Goose

by Tad Hills

It's about two ducks and a goose. The gray duck, Thistle, said it could do math. I like this book because I think Thistle is really cute. I think it's really funny when Goose says, "I can't do math when I'm getting splashed on." I think its really cool because Thistle said 3 butterflies flew on his head all at the same time. I really like it and you'll probably like it.
